My name is Aletha, and I have been creative as long as I can remember – painting, sewing, collage, writing, playing music- you name it! I have been sewing and crocheting since 2006, about the same time I went vegan. (I avoid animal products – even in my crafting.)

I started crocheting with amigirumi (plushy animals & food) and then branched out into freeform and art crochet, as well as knitting. Recently I have been more interested in following patterns (though not always closely – ha!). I have an Etsy shop called Radical Fringe where I sell some of my freeform creations.

In June 2017, my husband and I welcomed our baby girl, Bea, who is the inspiration for many of the projects I share on this site. I left my longtime occupation as a graphic designer to be home with baby and to share my fiber art & vegan DIY lifestyle with a wider audience.

My goal is not to create “perfect” pieces or patterns, but to guide fellow crafters to finding their own unique yarny expression by helping you gain the skills and confidence to think beyond the pattern book! I hope you enjoy the blog.
